Scott Versluis, Vice President of Technology Development and Commercialization (Energy, Transportation and Environment Division) Battelle Laboratories, foresees the end of the lead-acid battery, the coming of a 'self-healing' tire, lightweight composites for auto bodies and even kicks around what it would take for a flying car.
Jim Merkel, author of Radical Simplicity, walks his talk. He points to the 24 acres footprint of the average American and challenges people to live on a 3 acre footprint. Merkel lives on a 3 acre ecological footprint even with a car, house, warmth, and food.
